Abstract

While game is defined as a way of having fun that develops both skills and intelligence, has some certain rules and is used in spending a great time, toy is defined as a game instrument. Game is an activity that not only entertains and amuses the child, but also makes great contributions to her/his physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and language development. Game is a very important event in terms of the development and raising of the child. Considering from the viewpoint of the child; game is the most important business of the child, and the toys are an important game instrument for him/her. As well as requirements such as nutrition and sleep, children need the game in order to be healthy in terms of development. Non-fulfillment or limitation of this basic need causes the unhealthy development of children that constitute the core of society. Game enables children to see the events from a different viewpoint, develop their creativity, recognize their feelings like joy and sorrow, get socialized in friend groups and learn how to obey the moral and social rules, physically develop their muscle and bone structures, and develop their expression skills and vocabulary. It is required to create convenient game environments for children and support their games with necessary materials. Healthcare professionals should keep in mind that games and toys could contribute to the health and development of the child in practices regarding children.
